GOAL

I am updating a design for shelves that I made circa 1985.

That design was sketched with a yellow #2 pencil, cut on a radial arm saw in a home workshop, and carried entertaining eclectic ephemera, personal professoria, random rubbish, and tedious textbooks for many years. The design had some deficiencies, and some pieces are now lost like tears in rain.

I have expressed the reawakening redesign in FreeCAD, made some revisions, and started initial discussions with AustinCustomCNC to make some or many of them. In the event that things look good after these conversations, I will submit a related Kickstarter project and share both my design itself, and some physically realized shelving with others.

DOCUMENTS

Here are some behind the scenes materials related to the project.

I spent much of the week of 2020-07-06 diagnosing mysterious problems using a USB 3.1 memory stick on a USB 2.0 system. I am working ok with a replacement USB 2.0 stick. Hope that was the correct diagnosis, data is backed up regardless. As a bonus experience, I worked with Ubuntu logical volumes.

I loaded an older version of Ubuntu, Bionic Beaver 18.04, and attempted to export DWG files to give the shop. ¡No bueno!
